01/06/2010: New Video: Chad Collyer vs CM Punk
One of my favorite WWE performers to watch right now is CM Punk. I had many matches with Punk from 2001 until 2005 and was really proud of all of them. Here is a match that I have to share with all of you. It is from June 2005 in Cleveland Ohio for Cleveland All Pro Wrestling. Sorry the quality is crap but it takes me ages to upload a higher quality AVI file. Enjoy!
01/02/2010: Happy New Year; The Metal Master vs The Great Sasuke!!
Happy New Year everybody! I am really looking forward to this new year and I hope you are too. I have alot of goals sets for this year that you can read here at my Metal Master blog.
I really hope the pro wrestling business picks up here in America now that TNA has decided to go head-to-head with WWE RAW on Monday nights now. It will help business pick up all over the world. I hope to have something very big to announce in the next few weeks of a deal I just signed on for but right now I have to remain quiet and hope and pray that it comes through. This is the reason you see no dates on my schedule right now with any other wrestling promotions. I hope that changes very soon.
I have uploaded a new video for you all to enjoy. This match is my first match as the Metal Master back in July 2002 against the Japanese legend The Great Sasuke. I had just been released by the WWE developmental system at the time and went straight to Japan immediately after. This was my best Japan tour I ever had. I plan on adding many of matches over the years as myself and Metal Master this year on my website. I realized today how many great matches I've had all over the world that I'm very proud of. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to experience this journey as a pro wrestler. Enjoy the match!
12/30/2009: Best Matches of 2009
Copied this from my Metal Master blog that you can check out here
2009 is almost coming to a close so I thought I would reflect back and think about the best matches I had this year. I had an excellent opportunity to travel the world once again this year that I am very grateful for. I must say I had a really good year of quality matches but 5 really stick out as ones I am very proud of and will always remember. I really hope I have more to write about in 2010! Here are my favorite matches of 2009, in no particular order.
The Metal Master vs Alex Shelley part 1 in Omaha Nebraska This match was at an outdoor Water park in Omaha, with probably about 500 in attendance. I hadn't wrestled Alex Shelly since 2003 when he first started and wow had he improved. This was the first match in years that my memory and conditioning was truly challenged. Alex has wrestled epic matches for TNA week after week for the past several years including matches in Japan at the Tokyo Dome and this one was no different. This night we went about 20 minutes with some classic technical British style wrestling at the beginning and some Japanese style nearfalls at the end. It had been years that I wrestled a more Japanese style match and I was quite proud of my performance and our result. Metal Master wins with the jackhammer!
The Metal Master vs Alex Shelley part 2 in Warrington, Iowa This match was at Warrington High School and was a fundraiser for High School buses. Alex and I had a much different match tonight. The crowd was very hot and we had a very sound psychological match. More excellent mat wrestling at the beginning as you would expect out of me and Alex. What surprised me the most is how good I felt in these matches with Alex considering I hadn't been tested like this in a long time. This match was very psychologically sound with a slow build until a climactic finish and the fans were very appreciative and receptive for everything we did. We brought alot of emotion with back and forth chops, forearms, and kicks with many close nearfalls at the end but Alex won this one with the frog splash.
The Metal Master vs Bruiser Bradley (Aylesbury, England) This match took place in Aylesbury, England and was the first time Bruiser and I had been in the ring since 1997 when he and Dean Malenko trained me in Tampa Florida. I hadn't even seen Bruiser since training let alone have a match together. We finally met up here and we picked up right where we left off. I felt totally comfortable in the ring with him and performed in a way in this match that I normally don't do in others due to trust issues. Crowd was "shit hot" for the entire match that included him whipping me with his bullrope, and me hitting a top rope moonsault onto him which I rarely do. No typical cheerleading in this match that you see in alot of British shows these days. Just good psychological hard fought back and forth pro wrestling. Finish saw Bradley hit me with the cowbell for the 1-2-3.
The Metal Master vs Mike Mondo (Louisville, KY, USA) This match took place in the quarterfinals of the OVW TV title tournament. Mike and I had been looking forward to getting in the ring with each other for weeks and it really paid off. Danny Davis, the owner of OVW, told both of us after the match it was the best OVW match in the last 5 years. What a compliment considering all the great WWE talent that have been through the OVW territory!! We went 22 minutes in this match where I caught Mike in several Alloy Crossfaces but the final one made him tap out with only 30 seconds remaining in the TV match!!
The Metal Master vs Apoc (Frankfort, KY, USA) It's too bad my matches with the talented Apoc were not in front of larger audiences because we really tore it up when we got in the ring together. Apoc is a very smart wrestler and is experienced in all forms of pro wrestling. This particular match took place at the Frankfort Civic Center in front of oh, about 65 people! We did alot of old school style wrestling at the beginning of the match that the fans in attendence really appreciated and probably hadn't seen in 20 years! I made a very hot comeback and pinned Apoc with the brainbuster.

11/26/2009: Thanksgiving update
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I thought I would come on here today and update a few things. As you have seen recently on my schedule, I have mostly been wrestling for Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville. I had a great match a few weeks ago with Mike Mondo, formerly known as Mikey with the WWE's Spirit Squad. I was very proud of this match and I hope to report more Metal Master vs Mike Mondo matches in the future. You can check out the match in its entirety at the OVW Official Website or the edited version right here.

Saturdays @ 11pm on the CW in Louisville, KY

06/15/2009: Michinoku Pro referree Ted Tanabe dies of Heart Attack at age 46
I have just learned the sad news that one of my favorite people in this business, Ted Tanabe died of a heart attack while working on an Osaka Pro Wrestling show this weekend.
Ted was the best referee I have ever been in the ring with, and a great friend who helped me out alot during my first few years in my Japanese wrestling career.
Ted will be deeply missed.
06/15/2009: Mitsuharu Misawa passes away
Everyone at ChadCollyer.com was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of wrestling's true legends, Mitsuharu Misawa. We've changed the color of the site in memoriam to 'Green Destiny,' as he was known.
Misawa was an innovator and tireless worker in the ring. If you've never watched him perform, we encourage you to learn more about his life and career. He will be greatly missed by fans the world over.
06/08/2009: Dreamwave Wrestling
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to make a long 6 hour journey to La Salle, Illinois and back but it was well worth it!! This exciting new wrestling promotion is called Dreamwave and has some of the best wrestling fans I've ever been around. Unlike most "indy" feds these days, this promotion targets a family audience which is what pro wrestling has always been for anyways. There were no corny dueling chants or fans trying to "get themselves over." Nor was there any blood or swearing in the crowd or in the ring. I had a quick match against John E. Black which allowed me time to mingle with the fans and watch one of my childhood favorites, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake in action.
I am happy to say that I will be on the next several Dreamwave shows. The next one is July 18 in La Salle, IL at the Knights of Columbus. If you are a wrestling fan and live in this area I do recommend you checking this fed out especially if you have children to bring.
Please checkout the Metal Master blogger website which I try to update daily with what videos, quotes, or just whatever is on my mind!
I also have a twitter account now! You can go here to add me!

01/14/2009: Chad receives WWE dark match; New pics from Spain
WWE came to London last week to tape RAW and Smackdown at the massive O2 Arena. Chad recieved a dark match before the tapings started and wrestled Bob Holly in a very good 5 minute match. The 02 Arena was sold out with 20,000 people in attendance which is the largest crowd Chad has ever performed in front of. Chad did get very good feedback after the match and hopes to hear more from WWE very soon.
The Metal Master performed last weekend in Spain in front of a sold out 4,000 wrestling fans in Sevilla. The Metal Master defeated Turkish Murat Bospherus in 15 minutes with the Jackhammer. Pics of the match can be found in Chad's photo section under "Spain 2008."
11/26/2008: Germany, Ireland and France in October/November
I haven't updated the website since July with any news so I thought I'd better bring everybody up to speed on how everything is going over here in the UK. This month has been a very slow month for me after a very hectic summer. I've only had 10 matches so far this month but October and November is the busiest time of the year here in Europe.
I will travel to Ireland for one day on October 5 for Orig Williams' wrestling promotion. I want to wish Orig a speedy recovery as he is to be undergoing surgery soon after falling sick from his vacation in Spain.
In October, I return for the EWP Autumn series which features 3 straight days of wrestling in Hanover. This is one of my favorite places in the world to perform.
On November 1, I am going to the Island of Majorca in Spain for EWE where I will be taking on Chris the Bambikiller.
Besides wrestling and training all summer, I've been spending my free time with reading books and catching up with TV shows that I've missed over the last 8 years. I've watched every season of 24, Heroes, and Smallville over the past couple of months. All shows are fun to watch and I can't believe on how much I've missed out on TV over the last several years from working in this business.
I am hoping to update this site more in the upcoming days with pics from trip to Paris in July, and some YouTube videos from matches I've had as Metal Master over the past couple of weeks.
11/26/2008: Schedule updated;
Chad's schedule has just been updated as he remains very busy with 38 shows from now until the end of August. After successfull trips to Spain and France, the Butlins camps season has hit full swing for Chad and now has only 4 days off from now until the end of August....and most of those days are travel days for Chad.
We hope to have some pictures up soon of Chad's recent wrestling shows from EWE-Spain and the Japan Expo for ICWA in Paris, France. As of right now Chad had no other plans to wrestle outside of All Star until possibly September when he hopes to return for EWP in Germany. More on that show in the future.
11/26/2008: Metal Master returns to Spain this weekend
Chad returns as The Metal Master this weekend in Spain for the EWE wrestling promotion. Metal tags up with fellow mask wrestler El Ligero to take on recently signed to TNA, Doug Williams and Spud. EWE expects to have a sold out crowd of 6,000 people for this huge event. 4,000 people came to the last event in April to see The Metal Master defeat Murat Bosphorous.
Next week Chad travels to Paris for 3 days for the Japanese Comic Book expo. Chad will be performing 3 wrestling matches as the Metal Master while there.
Chad's schedule will now be updated on a weekly basis since he is unsure what All Star shows he will be performing on.
06/02/2008: June schedule updated; New video added
Chad's June schedule has been updated with dates until the middle of the month. More dates will be added once Chad knows whether he will be on the All Star town hall or Butlins schedule from June 17 onwards. The schedule includes big shows for Irish Whip Wrestling in Ireland and for EWE in Spain.
The new video added this week is rather short but is a short clip from Chad's dark match with Bob Holly last month at the O2 arena in London for WWE.

04/22/2007: Chad Malenko
Many of you may have noticed the new banner on my website that now
reads OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF CHAD MALENKO. Anybody can visit the site
now by either going to www.chadcollyer.com or www.chadmalenko.com From
now on I will not perform in a professional wrestling environment as
Chad Collyer, but will now use the Malenko name that was passed down
to me and wrestle as Chad Malenko. In 2004, when I was booked to
wrestle for New Japan, my teacher Dean Malenko, passed down the name
to me to use only in Japan. This past month I had the opportunity to
return to Japan and wrestle for the Zero One MAX and Muga-World Pro
Wrestling promotions as Chad Malenko, and hope to continue to work for
one or both promotions more regularly under the Malenko name. I will
continue to only use the name in Japan where the name has a rich
tradition of superb technical wrestling. I want to say it is an honor
to be able to use the Malenko name. The name represents actual
wrestling in a business where "character"and long winded promos seem
to dominate this era. I hope I can represent the Malenko name well by
giving outstanding wrestling performances every night I step into the
ring in Japan.
I will not wrestle anymore in the USA or any other country under my
own name or the Malenko name. I have other plans I want to do right
now in the states such as help coach my local high school wrestling
team. I also plan to do more personal training, which I will have more
info on my website very soon. I've been wanting to get back into
submission grappling as well. I started doing this two years ago and
had to take sometime off from it when I tore my bicep tendon a year
ago. Now that I'm back to full strength, I plan to return to doing
more of this style of wrestling.
Since I've decided to use the Malenko name, I have decided to release
some new Chad Malenko merchandise!
Please check out my MERCHANDISE section for the new MALENKO WRESTLING
ringer T-shirt.

04/15/2007: Collyer fights legendary Gran Hamada this week at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo!
VS.
Chad Malenko faces the legendary Gran Hamada in Tokyo's Korakuen Hall this Thursday, April 11 for the Muga-World Pro Wrestling Promotion. Hamada and Malenko fought this past Saturday in Shizuoka which saw Hamada get disqualified for hitting the referee with a steel chair. This coming after Collyer repeatedly struck Hamada with a chair outside of the ring. Hamada went to get his revenge on Malenko when the referee tried grabbing the chair from Hamada resulting in him getting smacked with the chair. The referee disqualified an angry Hamada, who challenged Malenko in a match at Korakuen Hall.
This will be the last match of Chad's tour. The tour has been very successful for Chad, and hopefully there will be more dates added to Chad's schedule very soon for the Zero-One Max and MUGA promotions.

Chad still plans to take more time off from pro wrestling in 2007 to focus on other areas in his life, such as his new personal training business which will be featured soon on this website.

02/05/2007: Chad Congratulates former enemy Ace Steele for receiving WWE contract
Chad wants to congratulate Ace Steele for receiving a WWE contract last week. Collyer and Ace had a bitter feud last year for the Ring of Honor promotion. Although they've had differences in the past, Chad is glad to see someone who has worked hard through the years, and "paid dues" to finally make it to the big time.
Good luck to Ace as he travels to Atlanta soon to work for the Deep South Wrestling promotion before making the jump to WWE TV.

01/01/2007: Collyer begins 2007 with HWA TV; many changes to be made with Chad's style
Chad will begin his 2007 wrestling schedule on January 9 at the HWA Arena for an Adrenaline TV taping. His opponent(s) are still to be announced. Chad plans on cutting back on his independent wrestling schedule in 2007 and concentrate more on International Pro wrestling in Europe, Japan, and Mexico. Collyer has also expressed interest into returning to competitive wrestling by training/competing in the submission grappling arts.
Chad feels 99% of independent wrestling is 'backyard' style, and that WWE seems to be more interested in actors than pure wrestlers; therefore, Collyer will mostly concentrate on HWA and a few various independents along with his international wrestling and grappling schedules.
Chad also has some big news coming up about a protege of his about to break into the pro wrestling business very soon as well. More on this soon!

09/18/2006: Collyer Writes First Blog on 2006 European Tour Blog #1: September 17, 2006: Summer European Tour 2006
Well this is my first blog I am writing to be put on my official website, and to be sent out to my Blog subscribers! I think the topic of my first blog should be about my summer long European wrestling tour, especially since I have not had many matches since coming home last month. I was extremely busy all summer with wrestling, usually wrestling somewhere between 7-9 matches a week, and normally spending about 8 hours a day crammed up in a van going to the holiday camp shows that I did from Monday thru Friday. The holiday camp show were for All Star Promotions, the biggest and best wrestling promotin in Great Britain. Then on the weekends, I flew on an airplane to countries in Europe to wrestle on other promotions shows. Countries I wrestled in this summer were France, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and England.
I started the tour on May 2 at the holiday camp in Minehead, England. The first story I heard from wrestlers Mikey Whipwreck and Kid Cool was about the bed I would be sleeping in back at the digs where I would be based out of in Birkenhead, which is across the Mersey River from Liverpool. Apparently the filthy Canadian wrestler that had been sleeping in my bed went out for Robbie Brookside's birthday a few weeks back and got really sloppy drunk by trying to be a tough guy while drinking a bottle of very hard liquor. In addition to the liquor, he was also pilled up which made matters much worst. Well when he got back to the digs that night, he went upstairs to pass out in what would soon be my bed. Well before falling asleep he realized he had to go take a dump, so he got up out of bed and went into the bathroom, grabbed the toilet paper roll and walked back to the bedroom. This guy was so wankered that he walked back into the bedroom, sat on a wooden chair and took a dump on it. Then without wiping his bum, he fell into the bed and passed out. The next morning wrestler James Mason walked into the bedroom to the horrible scene of the Canadian covered in poo. There was also shite on the ground, wall, and a big, dripping mound of it on the wooden chair. I heard poor James about had a heart attack and has yet to walk back into the bedroom. The humiliated Canadian did clean up the room, and went back home to Canada shortly thereafter. Needless to say, I didn't sleep in the bed.
I had a blast wrestling on the camp shows during the whole summer, and I should say my best matches came at these camps because the fans were absolutely electric. The shows that I did for the other indy shows were mostly fans that never leave their computers all day, and just lay around watching wrestling tapes, then come to the shows and think they're cool by chanting these corny lines. Those shows are never very fun, so I much prefer the shows that normal people come to enjoy themselves at. The best show I did all summer was on August 5 in Steinhude, Germany for the European Wrestling Promotion (EWP). They are by far the most professional of all wrestling organizations I work for and I always have a blast doing their shows. The previous tour I did back in October 2005 I also worked for EWP and had an awesome time there as well, along with a great 11 round Championship match against Robbie Brookside. On this occasion, I wrestled Doug Williams who may be the best British wrestler today, and maybe even the best Gaijin (foreign) wrestler in Japan. The show was an outdoor show right next to this huge lake, and sure enough it had to rain for several hours before Doug and I stepped into the ring. The ring was very slippery and hard to get good fitting but Doug and I still were able to pull off a great 20 minute match for the fans in Steinhude. I hope to return for EWP next month for the promotions annual 10 day tournament in Hanover, Germany.
My tour finished up on August 15 after doing a week of holiday camps and two Ring of Honor shows. Unfortunately right before I was to return to the USA, Al Quida had a plot to destroy planes flying from London to the USA by using explosives found in sport drinks activated by a device such as an iPod. The security in the airports were extremely tight, as well as it should have been. Amazing that there were people actually complaining about it! This one twat that was on my flight thought it was absolutely ridiculous to get searched before boarding the plane after he already went through security. I made it back to the USA with no problems whatsoever.
The best matches I had in Europe were with true professionals which you really don't see too much today on the independent scene. I credit those matches to be against James Mason, Robbie Brookside, Jody Fleisch, Ares, Doug Williams, Mikey Whiplash, Kid Cool, and Robbie Dynamite. Hopefully I will return to the UK for All Star Promotions in 2007.
There are some new additions coming to my official site very soon that I am very excited about. There will be a new products page that will have more than just my Best of 2005 DVD. There will be workout bands that I used while I was in Europe, workout books, protein bars and many other fitness related equipment. I will talk about this more in a future blog of mine.
Thanks for reading my first blog, and hopefully I will have more out soon!
